Yurt

This painting was done for a friend, and while I had reference photos of their yurt, this was largely my own composition. I was inspired by the landscape their yurt sits in and I loved the idea of showing their little cabin as a beacon of light and full of warmth.

Kelli and Ryan

Based on a photo from my cousin's wedding, I had lots of fun with this painting capturing the light and texture of the grasslands and my cousin's veil in particular.

The Beach

I did this painting of our family cabin for my grandmother, since she was a very important person in my life and this place meant a lot to us.
This is the largest painting I have ever done, and my favorite part was getting into the details to exactly depict each shingle, flower, and reflection, which I based off of a photograph.

Western Grebe

Birds make me happy. I love this little painting because it simply captures something I love and it is full of the color and life I see in the world around me.

Scottish Coast

This painting, based on a photo I took in Scotland, was a way for me to practice acrylic on a view I remember so fondly, since I had little experience and the photo provided so many interesting colors and textures.
I ended up having a lot of fun adjusting the colors and testing out different brushes, and ended up with a painting which captures the color and life of this Scottish coastline.
