All gouache work so far was done for a community college art course taken during my senior year of high school.
I had never used gouache before, but this class showed me how fun it is to use and the gorgeous colors and lines I can create.
Pattern Study Part One

To study how patterns may be used, this assignment started by cutting out paper shapes, then arranging, tracing, and repeating to create a pattern we liked. This piece shows the precision and order seen in a lot of my work, and I have always loved the color scheme I chose.

Pattern Study Part Two

A continuation of the pattern above, this was an exercise in patience and detail. My favorite part is the subtle variation between each quadrant and the change in scale from the piece above.

"Beautiful Anyway"

This was the final project of the class, where we were prompted to visually represented a song of our choice. I chose "Beautiful Anyway" by Judah & the Lion, and this series of painting represents the rhythm of the song and the feeling of growing joy and explosive energy throughout.
